This 12-week course covers 6th grade skills taught in the first semester of school.

Ages: 11 – 13  

Class size: 3 – 8 kids

The course starts: September 28th, 2020

The course ends: December 18th, 2020

Meets: 3 times a week

Days of the week:  Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays

Time of the class:  3:30 pm to 4:15 pm CDT

Class time: 45 minutes

Homework and quizzes will be assigned.

Most weeks will typically follow this pattern of learning:

Day 1 – Introduce weekly concept and practice

Day 2 – Review, practice, and apply weekly concept

Day 3 – Review, apply, and enrich weekly concept

We will meet three times a week to learn, practice, and apply the following concepts:

Week 1 – Review of properties of all operations 

Week 2 –  Powers and exponents

Week 3 – Order of Operations

Week 4 – Factors, Multiples, and Divisibility 

Week 5 – Greatest common factor and least common multiple 

Week 6 – Understanding fractions

Week 7 – Operations with fractions and Mixed numbers

Week 8 –  Ratios and rates

Week 9 –  Challenging Word Problems with Fractions and Ratios

Week 10 –  Decimals and operations with decimals

Week 11 – Percentages

Week 12 – Solving problems using ratio, rates and percentages

About Instructor


I am a very patient and enthusiastic person. I have been teaching children for 10 years as a tutor and homeschooling educator. All my children are homeschooling. I have a BA in Applied Mathematics and Associate Degree in Teaching Secondary/High School Math. In the past 10 years I helped my students to gain confidence in math and improve their grades, at the same time I try to make my lessons interesting so kids stay focused and they don't get bored. My passion for mathematics drives me to help my students achieve true understanding and mastery of mathematics without stress, anxiety and in a simple way. I am always researching for an innovative methods of teaching and I am trying to align my teaching style with student's learning style so students can reach their full potentials.
